Get started
ShotBox 1.0 requires an Apple silicon Mac running macOS 15 or later. Begin with the installation guide, which includes the one-time first-open step for the unsigned build.
Screenshot permissions
Screen capture needs macOS Screen Recording permission. Global capture shortcuts may need Accessibility permission. Watched folders need access only to the folders you select. You can review or revoke these permissions in System Settings under Privacy & Security.
Trial and activation
The full-feature trial lasts seven days. After it ends, the library switches to the activation screen and new capture or import actions stop. Your original screenshots remain available in Finder.
A purchased signed license is verified locally and stored in ShotBox’s local app preferences. Reinstalling the app does not include anyone else’s screenshots, and removing the app does not delete your original files.
Library recovery
ShotBox indexes files from watched folders and keeps its catalogue locally. If an item appears missing, confirm that its source folder is connected and still selected. Use the watched-folders settings to add the folder again.
Privacy
Screenshot analysis stays on your Mac. Read the complete privacy policy for details about local processing, encrypted sync, updates, and deletion.
