Data ShotBox processes
ShotBox reads image files in folders you choose. It stores a local catalogue containing file paths, dates, image dimensions, recognized text, notes, tags, favorites, hashes used for duplicate detection, and application recognition results.
Local processing
Screenshot previews, text recognition, sensitive-text detection, application recognition, duplicate checks, and search indexing run on your Mac. ShotBox does not upload screenshots, recognized text, notes, tags, or search queries to ShotBox servers.
Optional encrypted sync
If you enable encrypted folder sync, ShotBox writes encrypted copies of library screenshots to the folder you select. That folder may be managed by a third-party provider such as iCloud or Dropbox and is then subject to that provider’s privacy policy. ShotBox does not store the sync passphrase.
Licensing
The trial start date and any activated signed license key are stored in ShotBox’s local app preferences. License signatures are verified locally. ShotBox does not transmit the license key or customer email to ShotBox.
Software updates
When update checks are enabled, ShotBox requests an update feed over HTTPS. The hosting provider receives ordinary connection data such as an IP address and request time. Hardware-profile reporting is disabled in the updater.
Analytics and advertising
ShotBox contains no advertising SDK and does not send product analytics, crash telemetry, screenshot telemetry, or behavioral tracking data.
Storage and deletion
Original screenshots remain under your control. Removing ShotBox does not delete them. You can remove catalogue entries or move selected screenshots to Trash from inside the app. Local ShotBox metadata remains on the Mac until you remove the application data.
